The Division of Fundamentals of Building and Sustainable Development focuses on scientific and didactic activity in the field of building engineering, particularly: diagnostics and preservation of masonry structures and revitalization of historic buildings, physics of buildings, the issues related to energy efficiency and sustainable development, as well as innovations in building engineering. The team conducts research on sustainable materials and building technologies, building insulation and energy efficiency, including energy-efficient and passive buildings. Moreover, the Division members develop techniques for structural reinforcements, methods and materials used in preservation of structures, especially for historic and monumental buildings.
