Tensegrity Systems workshop

On 16-20 September 2024, Anna Al Sabouni-Zawadzka, PhD, along with students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the WUT Doctoral School, participated in the TENSEGRITY SYSTEMS: FROM BIOMECHANICS TO MECHANICAL METAMATERIALS workshop, organised by the CISM (International Centre for Mechanical Sciences) in Udine, Italy. This unique event provided an excellent opportunity to deepen the knowledge of tensegrity structures, which find applications in fields as diverse as biomechanics, robotics and metamaterials. Participation in the workshop was an extremely valuable experience for all participants, which opened up new perspectives and pathways for the development of this innovative technology.

One of the highlights of the programme was a series of lectures given by Anna Al Sabouni-Zawadzka, PhD. The topics of her presentations focused on the extreme properties of tensegrity metamaterials and the use of 3D printing to create them. Her talks attracted wide attention, providing participants with practical information on the latest technologies and innovative solutions in the field.

Workshop participants particularly emphasised the friendly atmosphere, which fostered the exchange of experiences and networking with experts from all corners of the world. The workshop brought new inspiration and ideas for research into tensegrity structures, which can have wide application in modern construction. Everyone came back with their heads full of new ideas, ready to develop further in this fascinating field.
