On-Site Inspection in Cairo – Building Structural Assessment

Employees of the DoFoB conducted an on-site inspection for the purpose of assessing the technical condition of a building constructed in the 1950s. The building is located in the former villa district of Cairo – Heliopolis.

This work was commissioned as part of the cooperation between the Warsaw University of Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology at the University of Warsaw. The planned renovation of the building aims to adapt it to become the new home of the Research Station in Cairo, which will support Polish archaeological research in the region.

The on-site inspection carried out by Wojciech Terlikowski, PhD and Kacper Wasilewski, PhD is a crucial step in assessing the feasibility of adapting the building for its new functions. The technical condition assessment will enable the precise planning of necessary renovation works, ensuring the safety and comfort of future users. At the following stages, our employees will supervise the structural design and the execution of renovation works.

We are pleased that expertise and experience of Research Team for The Diagnostics, Revitalization and Conservation of Historic Buildings can support such significant scientific projects.
